May/June 2021 Exam series Update
Dear Parents of IGCSE, AS & A2 Students
Oxford AQA and Pearson Edexcel Examinations
As you all may be aware, Oxford AQA and Pearson Edexcel have decided to cancel the May/June 2021 exams and replace them with Teacher Assessed Grades, in line with students in England.
Cambridge IGCSE & A-level Examinations
Cambridge has decided to run the June 2021 exam series in all countries as planned, and where permitted by national or regional authorities.
In countries, or regions within countries, where running exams will not be possible because of directives from national or regional authorities, Cambridge is looking at switching from exams to an approach based on teacher assessment. This would apply to all schools in those countries or regions.
Cambridge has already set up extra measures this year to support schools and students with exams. For example, schools can ask for adjustments to aspects of assessments, and exemptions from many components that the pandemic makes harder to run.
AIS management would do its best to support our students based on the criteria set by the exam boards.
- AIS has taken a decision to opt for teacher assessed Grades for Oxford AQA GCSE English and EDEXCEL AS/A2subjects offered by the School.
- AIS also would apply for exemption of components for certain subjects for Cambridge IGCSE/AS/A2.
We are still waiting for the updates from OXFORD AND EDEXCEL regarding the procedures for assessments and would update accordingly.
P.S. The registration for May/June 2021 session for Edexcel & Oxford will begin tentatively by the 14th of February 2021.
