Academic Supervisor Letter and KG Assessment Policy

Academic Year 2023/2024

Dear Parents,

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakaatuh,

First and foremost, I would like to introduce myself as the new Academic Supervisor of the Kindergarten section at Al Rowad. I am very fortunate to be part of this great learning institute and am looking forward to steer the KG section to greater heights! Bi ithnillah.

Here in Al Rowad, the purpose of our pre-school education goes beyond preparing the children for Grade 1. Our ultimate goal  is to provide a programme that will transform  our young children into learners who are inquisitive, who can solve problems and work collaboratively. These are the fundamental characteristics of leaders and thinkers. As such, our programme aims to nurture these qualities in our learners and to help them love learning beyond the classroom.

Our Programme: Aims and Methodology

In KG1, we give our young learners time to adapt to a school routine and to adjust into a classroom setting.Teachers are very sensitive to the needs of these entry-year students and ensure that learning takes place in a comfortable and joyful environment. Whether through play, interactive lessons or hand-on activities, our teachers will help  all our children to love learning as they grow accustomed to school.

KG 2 learners are more accustomed to classroom set up. Hence the programme provides a wider range of learning opportunities in terms of classroom tasks. Each lesson comprises activities where learners develop a sense of wonder and curiosity of what they are about to discover, know better or do better. In areas of literacy and numeracy, learning takes place through talking and meaningful chats, through craft and hands-on activities and through games, in addition to worksheet and textbook completion tasks. Our teachers use a variety of resources and strategies not only to reinforce learning, but more importantly, these teaching aids are designed to make every learning experience fun and memorable for our learners.

The resources and teaching methodology that are used in KG 2 continue in KG 3. In addition to being fun and memorable, lessons provide more challenging opportunities for learning. Phonics, sight words and spelling are included at this stage to equip learners with  building blocks to help them read.  Learners will master the skills of writing and grasp various concepts in Maths and Science to prepare them for Grade 1. In addition to this, our lessons are  planned to provide time for deep learning, and this happens when learners are given time to explore and to have their questions answered and explained.

Through this process, we are confident our learners will develop a love for learning beyond the classroom. Bi ithnillah. Please refer to the KG assessment  policy to give you a clear understanding of our policies with regards to homework and assessments.

Dear parents, the learning development and success of your children is our chief goal. We thank you for  your trust in Al Rowad and  I sincerely hope that through continuous communication and collaboration, together we can instil the love of learning in our children and nurture them to become the leaders of tomorrow.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me at ext 327 or email me [email protected] .Should you wish to discuss any matter in person, I am available during these hours: Wednesdays 7.00 am – 10.00 am.
