A warm welcome back to school from your summer vacation. I hope you spent wonderful moments together as a family and that now you are ready for a challenging, productive and enjoyable school year.

We would like to inform you that, starting from this quarter, AIS students will be taking unannounced checkpoint assessments in all subjects this year. This is the first time that students in AIS will be taking these assessments in this manner.

For each quarter, there will be four checkpoints for English, Math, Sciences and Arabic; two checkpoints for the other subjects. Essentially, your child will be given a short checkpoint test (lasting about 5-10 minutes) that will simply be checking on key points of understanding from the previous lessons. These checkpoints are a way for us to measure your child’s skills, help determine an appropriate plan to meet their educational needs and help your child make significant academic progress this school year.

Please be assured that they are not accumulative (i.e., it does not count towards the overall year mark/score), and thus they do not affect student grades and are merely used in combination with other assessment methods to determine a student’s academic program. They are one piece of data that we use to assess how students are progressing toward meeting the learning standards set by AIS.

نرحب بكم في العام الدراسي الجديد ونتمنى أنكم قد قضيتم أوقات ماتعة مع الأسرة والأبناء واصبحتم على استعداد لعام دراسي مثمر وممتع ومليء بالتحدي.

نود إفادتكم أنه بداية من الفصل الدراسي الحالي سوف يخضع طلاب المدارس لاختبارات تقويم نقطة فحص Checkpoint Assessment في جميع المواد أثناء هذا العام، وتعد هذه المرة الأولى التي يخضع فيها طلاب المدارس لهذا النوع من الاختبارات وبهذه الطريقة.

سيشمل كل ربع من العام الدراسي أربعة اختبارات غير معلنة مسبقًا في اللغة الإنجليزية والرياضيات والعلوم واللغة العربية واختبارين في المواد الأخرى، وفي الأساس سيخضع ابنائكم لاختبار نقطة فحص قصير (يستمر 5 إلى 10 دقائق) يهدف ببساطة إلى التحقق من فهم ابنائكم للنقاط الأساسية في الدروس السابقة، تتبع المدارس هذه الطريق لقياس مستوى مهارة ابنائكم في التعلم ومن ثم تضع الخطة المناسبة لتلبية احتياجاتهم التعليمية ومساعدة أبنائنا الطلاب على إحراز تقدم أكاديمي كبير هذا العام.

ونود أن نطمئنكم أن هذه الاختبارات ليست تراكمية (أي أنها لا تضاف إلى المجموع الكلي للطالب) ومن ثم لا تؤثر على درجات الطالب وتستخدم إلى جانب أساليب التقويم الأخرى لتحديد مستوى التقدم الأكاديمي للطالب، فهي توفر لنا البيانات التي نستخدمها لتقييم مستوى التقدم الذي يحرزه الطلاب نحو تحقيق المعايير التعليمية المتبعة في الرواد.
